NextImg:Fetterman Calls for One of His Own, 'Senator for Egypt,' to Be Expelled Just Like Santos

In a recent episode of ABC’s “The View,” Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania made a bold statement about his Democrat colleague, Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey.

Fetterman, aligning with several other Senate Democrats, called for Menendez’s expulsion from the Senate, likening him to a “Senator from Egypt, not New Jersey.”

This comparison stems from allegations against Menendez involving a bribery scheme. According to federal prosecutors, since 2018, Menendez has been implicated in accepting bribes, including cash, gold, and luxury items, in exchange for using his influence to benefit the government of Egypt.

Fetterman’s remarks followed the expulsion of Representative George Santos of New York from the House Friday. Santos was removed by a 311 to 114 vote on charges including wire fraud and identity theft.

The discussion on “The View” began with co-host Joy Behar mentioning Santos’ expulsion, to which Fetterman responded, “Well, I’m not surprised.”

He then shifted focus to Menendez, expressing his view that Menendez’s actions were actually worse than Santos.

“But to me, I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that has actually did more sinister and serious kinds of things,” Fetterman said. “Senator Menendez. He needs to go!”

“And if you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?” Fetterman asked.

He then drew an outlandish comparison between Santos and Menendez, stating, “And you know, Santos’ lies were almost funny, and like he, you know, landed on the moon. That kinda stuff. Whereas, you know, Menendez I think is really a Senator for Egypt, not New Jersey.”

Fetterman’s stance reflects a growing sentiment among Senate Democrats who have called for Menendez’s resignation. He emphasized the importance of consistency in congressional standards.

“So I really think he needs to go, and uh, especially it’s kind of strange that if Santos is not allowed to remain in the House, you know, someone like that…”

As of the report, Senator Menendez’s office had not responded to Fox News’ requests for comment on Fetterman’s assertions.

The unethical conduct of elected officials in both the House and the Senate is cause for great concern. There needs to be more accountability and they need to abide by the same laws and rules that they implement over regular American citizens.
