In a stark display of the national security threats posed by the current administration’s border policies, Border Patrol agents apprehended an Afghan national, flagged on the FBI’s terror watchlist, after he unlawfully entered the U.S. near Otay Mesa, California on Wednesday.
The arrest was confirmed by multiple sources within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to Fox News.
The Afghan individual was part of a larger group of migrants crossing the border. At a processing station, a routine fingerprint scan revealed his alarming connection to the Terrorist Screening Database.
Promptly informed, the FBI confirmed the link and initiated an investigation.
This apprehension occurred just one day before the termination of Title 42, a COVID-19 emergency policy that gave border agents the authority to repel migrants.
Since the expiration of this policy, a surge of migrants has inundated the border.
The incident happened within the jurisdiction of Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who did not hesitate to voice his concerns about the dangers the Biden administration’s border policies pose to national security.
“Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history,” Issa told Fox News.
He emphasized that these lenient policies serve as a standing invitation to global terrorists, confidently stating, “Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done.”
Issa’s office confirmed the arrest of the suspected terrorist with their local CBP, underscoring the urgency and credibility of this national security concern.
