Country music legend, Dolly Parton, is exploring the rock genre and has collaborated with two stalwarts from the music industry – Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Together, they’ve rendered a new version of the classic Beatles anthem, “Let It Be,” a track which holds its origins from more than half a century ago.
Announcing this significant venture on her Instagram, Parton expressed, “Does it get any better than singing “Let It Be” with @paulmccartney who wrote the song? Not only that, he played piano! Well, it did get even better when @ringostarrmusic joined in on drums.”
The track debut also features rock legends Peter Frampton on guitar and Mick Fleetwood playing percussion.
Dolly summed it up pretty well saying, “I mean, seriously, how much better does it get? Thanks guys!”
Ringo Starr, who once set the rhythm for the Beatles as their drummer, pursued a solo journey after the iconic band’s conclusion. Additionally, Peter Frampton rose to fame as the guitarist for bands like Herd and Humble Pie. Not to be forgotten, Mick Fleetwood is acclaimed as one of the initial pillars of Fleetwood Mac.

Showing mutual appreciation, McCartney remarked on Parton’s announcement, “Thanks Dolly for doing my song. I love your version and am very pleased to be by your side on this one. Rock on!”
Recently, in May, Parton was honored with an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Following this commendation, she divulged plans of crafting her own rock anthems, with a little assistance from her esteemed colleagues. Her anticipated rock project, “Rockstar,” is scheduled for a fall release. Notably, this album will showcase tracks originally voiced by renowned artists like the late Prince, Freddie Mercury, Sting, and Miley Cyrus.
Recounting her motivations behind this project, Parton shared with Pollstar, “When I got nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I thought, well, no better time to do it.’ I had always wanted to do it.”
In a touching gesture, Parton has devoted “Rockstar,” slated for release on November 17, to her spouse, Carl Thomas Dean, explaining, “My husband is a big hard rock ’n’ roll fan, and for years I thought, ‘One of these days I’d like to do an album mainly just for him, just to kind of do it.'”
