The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that the Washington, D.C. office of a Biden administration official, Brian Sulc, was raided by federal law enforcement, and the official has been placed on administrative leave.

Sulc is the executive director of the Transnational Organized Crime Mission Center, which falls under the DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis.

On Monday, Sulc’s office was raided and cordoned off with police tape.

A DHS spokesperson confirmed the investigation into Sulc in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The spokesperson said, “DHS is committed to ensuring all operational security protocols are followed and is conducting an inquiry into a reported security incident.”

They further emphasized that the department conducts its national security mission while adhering to the highest standards.

The spokesperson also confirmed that Sulc was placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure, as part of the ongoing investigation.

Sulc is under investigation for allegedly violating security protocols by bringing a personal electronic device into the secured office, which is prohibited.

He has not been arrested or charged in connection with the incident.

The Federal Protective Service (FPS) raided Sulc’s office at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, covering his office with crime tape and placing evidence seals on the door and keyhole to his office.

The FPS escorted Sulc out of the building, accompanied by security personnel, before taking him for questioning at a separate location.

The mission center Sulc oversees is responsible for creating intelligence assessments on high-profile policy issues, including the opioid pandemic and border security.

A source with direct knowledge of the search told Rolling Stone, “He is a big deal. He does the border, all the big issues and crises. This is why this is all so shocking.”

The DHS spokesperson clarified that the actions taken by the Federal Protective Service (FPS) were not related to the ongoing internal inquiry.

It remains unclear what other issues, if any, the FPS investigation may be focused on.

This incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of the Biden administration’s handling of various security and policy matters, including the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Sulc’s position within the Transnational Organized Crime Mission Center makes the situation even more notable, as he plays a significant role in assessing and addressing critical policy issues that directly impact national security.

As the investigation unfolds, further information may become available regarding the reasons for the raid and any potential charges Sulc may face.

For now, the Department of Homeland Security is emphasizing its commitment to maintaining operational security protocols and conducting a thorough inquiry into the reported security incident.
