Walt Disney announced on Wednesday that it will be providing discounted ticket prices for children at its theme parks for a specified time, looking to bolster attendance numbers.

The pandemic in 2020 and 2021, catalyzed by the fearmongering rapid spread of COVID-19, undeniably took a toll on the amusement park industry, leading to shut-downs and noticeably decreased attendance.

Despite these initial setbacks, Disney’s park businesses made a big comeback, turning into the primary source of profit for the media conglomerate.

This uptick also played a pivotal role in offsetting some of the losses witnessed in its Disney+ streaming sector.

That being said, recent data indicates a potential loss in visitor numbers.

During a third-quarter earnings conference call in August, Disney CEO Bob Iger noted the “softer performance” at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

However, Iger, emphasizing the resilience and success of the enterprise, went on to clarify that the parks stand as “a tremendous business”, with Walt Disney World’s performance still exceeding pre-pandemic benchmarks.

Highlighting its commitment to the parks sector, the company disclosed plans last month to substantially increase its capital expenditure for its park business, earmarking about $60 billion over the coming decade.

Walt Disney World is also expected to roll out a special package on Nov. 14, tailored for families.

This will include discounted tickets for children both for the theme parks and associated dining plans. These can be used next year from March 3 through June 30.

It’s important to note that these promotional offers are exclusively for children ages 3 to 9 years.
