He elaborated on the impact this new career move would have on those around him, saying, “This summer is my last-ever tour. I have felt a strong desire to pursue ministry, and this doesn’t mean I’m gonna start a church or a crusade or a revival, this means that me and my family are going to serve our local church.”

The country star is currently working towards a master’s degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He believes that he can “glorify God best from my platform” as he embarks on this new path.

In the video, Smith also discussed the devastating loss of his three-year-old son, River, who tragically drowned in 2019.

This heartbreaking event deepened his faith and inspired him to write his upcoming book, Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward after Loss and Heartache.

The book will offer insights into Smith’s journey through grief and the role his faith played in helping him cope with the loss of his son.

According to UPI, Smith will conclude his music career with his Like a River tour, which is named in honor of his late son.

The tour is set to kick off on Thursday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and will come to an end in July.

As he embraces this new journey, he aims to serve his local church and community, focusing on what he believes is most important in life: his faith and family.
