Actor Kevin Costner finds himself in the midst of a bitter divorce with his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, and the proceedings are getting ugly fast.

According to an exclusive report in the Daily Mail, the former couple is embroiled in a heated dispute over their opulent $145 million property in Carpinteria, California.

This conflict is shaping up to be reminiscent of the infamous “War of the Roses,” as both sides prepare for a legal showdown.

Costner, best known for his role in the hit series “Yellowstone,” contends that he is effectively “homeless” due to Baumgartner’s refusal to vacate their shared residence.

However, the property in question was purchased solely by Costner back in 1988, well before their marriage in 2004.

As per their prenuptial agreement, it was clearly stipulated that in the event of a separation, Baumgartner would be the one required to find alternative accommodations.

Reflecting on his previous marriage, Costner shared his reluctance to endure a similar situation, stating, “I was married once before and, upon separation, found myself without a home base and unable to reside in my own property. I never wanted this to happen again.” T

he actor, who had been away filming in Utah, was set to return home in June following the completion of his on-location commitments.

It is worth noting that Baumgartner would not be left destitute if she complied with the terms of their agreement.

The prenuptial arrangement provided her with a substantial sum of $1.2 million to facilitate her relocation.

Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail indicate that Costner’s legal team has made several attempts to persuade Baumgartner to adhere to the agreement, going so far as to offer $10,000 for moving costs, assistance from Costner’s household staff, and a monthly rental allowance of $30,000.

Costner’s lawyers assert that Baumgartner is leveraging her continued presence in the house as a bargaining tool, an assertion supported by their statement: “Christine has taken the position that she will not move out of Kevin’s separate property residence unless and until Kevin agrees to various financial demands. Christine’s agreement to move out was and is unconditional. Indeed, independent of the pre-marital agreement, she has no right to occupy Kevin’s separate property residence.”

In a further twist, Baumgartner has taken legal action by filing a restraining order against Costner.

This order prohibits him from relocating their three children out of state or disposing of any shared property.

The court documents also reveal that Costner expressed his frustration over his estranged spouse incurring a hefty $95,000 debt on his credit card, allegedly without prior notice, to retain the services of lawyers and a forensic accountant.

Baumgartner initiated the divorce proceedings on May 1, following 18 years of marriage, as reported by TMZ.

Both parties have expressed their desire for joint custody of their children, a sentiment that underscores their commitment to prioritize the well-being of their family amidst this acrimonious separation.
