NextImg:Controversial Social Media Posts by Maryland Hate Crime Task Force Member Spark Concern

Zainab Chaudry, a member of a Maryland task force dedicated to combating hate crimes, has come under scrutiny for her recent social media posts.

These posts include deeply concerning statements, such as calling the tragic deaths of Israeli babies in a Hamas attack “fake” and drawing disturbing comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany.

Chaudry’s comments were made in the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack by Hamas, which resulted in the loss of more than 1,400 lives, including innocent children and babies.

Instead of showing empathy and condemning this act of terror, Chaudry chose to downplay the suffering of Israeli families who lost their loved ones and incite a sense of deserved outcome towards Israel which she refers to as “a racist, genocidal, apartheid state.”

One of her Facebook posts from October 26 raised eyebrows as she wrote, “I will never be able to understand how the world summoned up rage for 40 fake Israeli babies while completely turning a blind eye to 3,000 real Palestinian babies.”

This statement is absolutely absurd and minimizes the tragedy suffered by Israeli families as there were plenty of people, including reporters, that could attest to the atrocities carried out by Hamas against these helpless infants.

Chaudry’s social media activity didn’t stop there. On October 17, she posted photos of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, drawing a questionable parallel between the Israeli flag displayed in solidarity with Israel and a historic image from 1936 when the gate was adorned with the Nazi Germany flag during the Olympics. This comparison is not only offensive but also lacks a nuanced understanding of the historical context.

Do you think Chaudry should be removed from the Commission on hate crime?

In another post from November 6, Chaudry seemed to suggest that the mere existence of Israel was the root cause of the ongoing conflict. She posted an image with the words “it all started in 1948,” referencing the year of Israel’s founding as a nation.

In her Facebook post of October 7, Chaudry actually justifies the gruesome and flat out evil terrorist attack on the southern people of Israel on the very day it occurred.

She actually called the terror attack an “uprising in Palestine” excusing their atrocities by claiming “they are a people who are illegally occupied” and that “militarized occupation is inherently evil and violent.”

She continued by accusing anyone outraged by the evil attack “sympathetic to the colonizers,” claiming they “have ignored the rights and dignity of the colonized for decades.”

“[T]he thirst for freedom is an innate instinct we’re born with. resistance is a reminder that it can’t be quenched through might and force,” she said.

How could anyone in their right mind claim the atrocities committed in southern Israel by Hamas is “resistance?”

What is particularly troubling is that despite these controversial posts, Chaudry continues to hold a position on the Maryland Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention.

She was nominated for this role by Democrat Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown in August. The commission’s mission is to address hate crimes across Maryland and promote understanding of diverse perspectives.

Her presence on the commission raises questions about the vetting process for such appointments and whether individuals with strong biases should be entrusted with addressing hate crimes in a fair and unbiased manner.

In response to these revelations, Jennifer Donelan, a spokesperson for Attorney General Anthony Brown, said, “the views and opinions of any individual Commission member do not reflect those of either the Maryland Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention or the Attorney General.”

“We understand that there are many viewpoints regarding current events in the Middle East. The Commission will do its best to explore the impact of those events on our community, and to determine how best to address escalations in hate and bias incidents across the state,” she continued, clarifying that the Commission would “develop policies and protocols governing its work” and how its members engage on the issues.

“Just as we urge others to do, the Commission will identify ways in which we can foster productive and empathetic dialogue amongst ourselves that leads to mutual understanding. We, like the rest of the world, must first talk to one another and, most importantly, listen to one another as we work toward the goals of peace and tolerance,” she added.

Chaudry, when contacted for comment by Fox News Digital, defended her actions by referring to a “Nazi post” shared by a Jewish friend and accused the Israeli government of genocidal intentions towards Palestinians.

Chaudry justified herself claiming her social media posts are not in conflict with her membership on the Commission.

“There is no conflict between condemning the Israeli government’s genocidal war crimes overseas and standing up against all forms of hate here at home, including antisemitism, Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism. False smears from anti-Palestinian and anti-Muslim extremists will not stop me from standing up for justice here and abroad,” she said.
