A Washington, DC-based conservative nonprofit called Consumers’ Research has introduced a new text alert system called “Woke Alert,” aimed at helping shoppers avoid products from companies that allegedly cater to the “woke agenda.”
The organization focuses on the intersection of policy and consumerism and aims to provide conservative-minded customers with updates on companies that have adopted left-leaning marketing strategies or other policies.
The Woke Alert sign-up page states that many corporations prioritize progressive activists and their controversial agendas over customers, and these companies will only succeed if consumers ignore their actions.
As of Friday morning, warnings had already been issued for Bud Light, which faced criticism from the far right for partnering with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, and Jack Daniel’s 2021 “Small Town, Big Pride” campaign.
To drive user interest, the Woke Alert launch is supported by a six-figure ad campaign.
Executive director Will Hild told Axios, “We are launching Woke Alerts to help consumers make better-informed decisions about where to spend their money. We believe companies should focus on their customers and not woke politicians and progressive activists.”
However, left-wing voices have criticized Consumers’ Research’s efforts.
Anna Bahr, a political consultant with Left Flank Strategies, said that people are more concerned about the high cost of gas than the appearance of their Budweiser bottle.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) called the new text service “laughable” and claimed that the right-wing is determined to move the country backward.
In addition to the Woke Alert, the group’s website includes a tracker for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) legislation, which Consumers’ Research claims is another ideological move by the left.
Despite the organization’s public endeavors, it remains somewhat enigmatic.
The group had an $8 million budget in 2021 but does not disclose its donors.
Will Hild, who joined Consumers’ Research in 2020, has close ties to Leonard Leo, a Republican lawyer and former executive vice president of the Federalist Society.
Leo has campaigned for the Supreme Court confirmations of Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, among others.

Leo praised Consumers’ Research and Hild, stating that they are executing the most effective pushback against ESG and other aspects of woke corporate culture.
He added that it’s time for businesses that are out of step with the sentiments of most Americans to pay a price for prioritizing woke special interests over consumers.
