NextImg:Christie Threatens Trump If He Keeps Skipping Debates: 'Going To Follow Him Around The Country’

During a recent interview on Fox News’s “Media Buzz” with Howard Kurtz, ex-Governor of New Jersey and Republican Chris Christie issued a warning: if former President Donald Trump opts out of GOP primary debates, Christie would begin stalking Trump and monitoring his movements throughout the country.

Referring to the last GOP debate Kurtz asked Christie, “Did Trump defuse your strategy of going toe-to-toe with him by staying off the debate stage and saying since he’s gotten a big lead nationally in the national polls, that he is not going to do any of the debates?”

Christie fired back, “Well, if he doesn’t do any of the debates, Howie, you know, we’re gonna give him another chance. I’m sure he’s not coming to the Reagan debate. We’ll give him another chance in Alabama. But if he doesn’t come there, then I’m going to follow him around the country. Wherever he goes, I’ll go. And we’ll wind up talking to each other one way or the other. And he knows that’s true.”

Kurtz followed up, asking, “You’re going to change your travel schedule to go where Trump goes?”

Christie confirmed with a simple, “You bet.”

Don’t know about you but to me those sound like the words of a stalker!

Guessing if Trump said that about one of his opponents that’s exactly what they’d call him.

Last month, the former president made an announcement indicating his intention to bypass the Republican Party primary debates.

Should Chris Christie drop out of the race?

However, it remains uncertain whether he referred to missing all upcoming debates or merely the initial two.

Backing his decision, the former president referred to a CBS News poll which revealed his lead over other contenders in the national polls, proclaiming, “I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is “still holding out hope that [former] President Trump will come.”

McDaniel emphasized the significance of the debates, stating it’s “so important that the American people hear from all the candidates.”

Given Trump’s commanding lead over the rest of the GOP field it’s hard to see how he would benefit from attending any of the debates except possibly the final one.

As to McDaniel’s claim that the American people need to hear from all of the candidates, Trump is certainly not shy about telling the country what he thinks.

It’s also a good bet to assume more people know Trump’s position on various policy issues versus the rest of the field.
