



Angel Studios’ latest release, “Sound of Freedom,” outshone competitors at the U.S. box office this Independence Day, demonstrating a resonating triumph for the studio renowned for the successful faith-based television series “The Chosen.”
“Sound of Freedom,” an evocative film starring Jim Caviezel and delving into the sobering realities of human trafficking, secured the number one spot on the U.S. box office chart.
In its debut, the movie exceeded the takings of Disney’s much-anticipated sequel “Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny,” among other contenders, as reported by Box Office Mojo.
According to Angel Studios’ press release, the film garnered $14.2 million at the box office.
This figure includes $11.5 million earned directly at the box office and an additional $2.6 million from the sale of PAY IT FORWARD tickets.
In comparison, Disney’s “Indiana Jones” sequel, which premiered on June 30th, amassed $11,698,989 from over 4,000 theaters.
Yet, the “Sound of Freedom” surged ahead, accruing a total gross of $14,242,063 following its Tuesday opening.
Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios, expressed his gratitude in the studio’s press release, stating, “‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ earned the top spot as America’s number one movie on Independence Day, thanks to fans around the country.”
He further acknowledged the film’s growing popularity, saying, “We’ve received numerous messages telling us theaters are either packed or sold out.”
Emphasizing the film’s broader impact, Harmon revealed, “This movie has now taken on a life of its own to become something more than that, a grassroots movement. With an A+ CinemaScore rating, we’re the top-rated movie in America, and we’re going to see word-of-mouth spread even further going into the weekend.”
“The world needs to see SOUND OF FREEDOM, and we know that our biggest competitive advantage—our incredible fans and investors—are going to make sure that happens,” Harmon continued, highlighting the role of the film’s ardent fanbase and backers.
Country music icon John Rich celebrated the film’s performance on Twitter, enthusing, “‘SoundOfFreedom’ is smashing box office expectations!” Rich’s tweet encouraged others to share the news and provided a link for fans to locate theaters screening the movie.
“Sound of Freedom” features Caviezel in the role of Tim Ballard, a federal agent who, in a true story, leaves his job to undertake a perilous mission to rescue a young girl from sex slavery in South America.
This vivid narrative has evidently struck a chord with audiences nationwide, reflecting both the film’s compelling content and the considerable support for its values.
