At 43, Chris Pratt, the actor known for his roles in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Super Mario Bros,” has faced a significant backlash over his openness about his Christian faith.
Despite the negative comments, Pratt remains steadfast, drawing inspiration from the story of Jesus and the struggles he faced.
In a recent interview with entertainment outlet Page Six, Pratt shared that he often reflects on the story of Jesus and the suffering he endured, acknowledging that for Christians, hatred is often part of the experience.
To emphasize his point, he quoted John 15:18-20, saying, “If I was of this world, they would love me just like that, but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world.”
He further commented on the longstanding nature of such hatred, stating, “That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too.”
During the interview, Pratt also revealed how he deals with the hate he encounters.
Drawing on his background in door-to-door sales from 25 years ago, he said that the key is to handle hate “just how you deal with anything.”
He added, “Like a rhino, stick your head down, you keep driving forward, you have thick skin and if anyone gets in your way, you stick the horn right up their ass!”

Despite the backlash, Pratt’s career continues to flourish. His recent movie, “Super Mario Bros,” was the first film of 2023 to gross over $1 billion.
Additionally, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3,” which he has been promoting during his press tour, has already earned more than $280 million worldwide after just one weekend.
