In a disturbing incident at Farley’s Coffee in Oakland, California, a Jewish woman faced obstruction from employees when trying to access the restroom, igniting controversy and leading to an apology from the business amid allegations of anti-Semitism.
The woman, a paid customer, sought to enter the restroom with the intent of documenting antisemitic graffiti in the bathroom, which equated Zionism with fascism. Employees purposely worked to prevent, physically blocking her from the restroom resulting in a heated confrontation captured on video and later shared by @StopAntisemites on social media.
During the exchange, one employee remarked, “We’ve given you all your food. You’ve eaten, you’re holding up s—.” When the woman asserted her right to use the restroom, she was met with resistance, and an employee, donning a yellow beanie and face mask, stated, “Also currently, this is a private property. I do need you to leave.”
The situation turned from bad to worse with another employee’s comment, “I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it’s their own. But you gotta head…”
Farley’s Coffee, which also operates a San Francisco branch, found itself at the center of backlash following the video’s viral spread.
In the video, the woman repeatedly requests access to the restroom, only to be repeatedly denied. A staffer, sporting a yellow beanie and mask, cited the establishment as private property, insisting she leave. Another employee, wearing a red mask and blue hair, stood silently in front of the restroom door.
The situation intensified when an employee justified denying access by saying, “You’re also misgendering them. So I need you to leave please.”
The woman’s persistence to document the offensive graffiti was met with an employee’s remark, “All you want to get is a video of it saying that Zionism is fascism. Because it is.”
Upon finally entering the bathroom, the woman recorded the graffiti, including “Zionism = fascism” with which one of the employees shouted, “History doesn’t start in 1948, lady,” referencing the year of Israel’s establishment.
As she recorded the message on the baby changing station which said, “your neutrality” is enabling “genocide” and “Free Palestine,” two employees entered the restroom and emphatically stated, “Free Palestine.”

Farley’s Coffee issued an apology on Instagram stating, “We want to offer an acknowledgment and a sincere apology,” acknowledging that “hate speech graffiti was written in our bathroom.”
The coffee shop went on to claim, “We do not support hate speech; this does not reflect our values.”
“After a customer used the bathroom and wished to return to document the graffiti, they were initially denied access and then allowed to re-enter to document the graffiti,” the statement continued. “The staff handled the situation poorly, and we apologize for this error and the distress caused to the customer.”
While they did own the problem, they seemingly have no plans to terminate the employees but rather, “We’ve taken corrective measures with our staff and removed the offensive graffiti.”
Farley’s went on to state, “We’re not antisemitic; we value diversity and inclusivity. We’re committed to ongoing staff training for a safe and welcoming environment.”
They even went so far as to ask for “understanding” because they are a small business who is just “doing our best to operate a community business in a difficult environment.”
Farley’s did not respond to a request by Fox News for comment.
This episode at Farley’s Coffee is yet another example of the rampant antisemitism in the US and the world. These misguided and ill-informed employees are engaging in hate speech.
It is unlikely that Farley’s “training” will have any impact in undoing the hatred they have adopted over years of brainwashing. It is clear that they unwittingly support a terrorist government that sadistically tortured and murdered over 1400 people in the course of one day.
There is no excuse. If Farley’s is genuinely antisemitic, they will fire these people.
