Bud Light’s official Twitter account posted its first tweet on Friday since Anheuser Busch faced backlash over its sponsorship deal with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The tweet, which read “TGIF?” and featured a photo of the brand’s iconic blue can, marked the end of silence for the typically active account since April 1.

Mulvaney announced the deal with the beer giant on Instagram the day after, promoting a contest giving Bud Light drinkers a chance to win $15,000.

The advertising sponsorship sparked outrage among conservatives, who criticized the company’s partnership with a trans activist as promoting “gender propaganda” and called for boycotts.

Since the start of the campaign on April 1, the $132 billion beer company has seen its market value drop by around $5 billion.

Anheuser Busch distributors throughout the United States have felt the impact, with numerous bars in red states from Tennessee to Wyoming refusing to stock Bud Light.

In the midst of the controversy, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that several Budweiser factories had received bomb threats.

The exact number of targeted facilities remains unclear.

Prior to the backlash, the company defended its decision to hire Mulvaney, an trans activist and influencer with more than 10 million followers on TikTok, where she documented her gender transition.

Without mentioning Mulvaney, he stated, “We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people.” He emphasized the company’s mission to bring people together over a beer.
