The difference between the “greatest generation” that fought WWII and the current generation could not be more stark.
One was willing to sacrifice everything for freedom and for what he or she believed in while to call the current generation soft would be an understatement.
There are of course many, many exceptions to this, but as generalities go this is pretty spot on.
They say a picture can be worth a thousand words so here is the difference between this current generation and the ‘greatest generation’ brutally summed up by a single cartoon:

Does that about sum it all up?
Of course it’s hard to blame the young people for their insanity since it’s obvious they’re learning it from the insane woke adults at school.
Elementary School Opts for ‘Peace Assembly’ Instead of Traditional Veteran’s Day Homage by Elizabeth Allen
In a disturbing turn of events, a Washington elementary school has gone completely woke, swapping their traditional Veteran’s Day with a “Peace Assembly” sparking controversy.
The powers that be at Benjamin Rush Elementary, in Redmond, have chosen to abandon honoring our brave soldiers who served to protect the freedoms of our country. The assembly had included time honored traditions including the school’s choir performing songs like, “This Land is Your Land” and “It’s a Grand Old Flag,” along with the national anthem.
Instead, the school’s administration chose to celebrate the International Day of Tolerance, sponsored by UNESCO, on November 15 (International Day of Tolerance is November 16).
In newsletters dated October 29 and November 5, families were expecting to see the Veteran’s Day assembly were stunned to discover the announcement of a “Peace Assembly” instead. Additionally the newsletters failed to provide any description of the event, causing immediate backlash among parents.
One father, seeking anonymity for fear of repercussions, voiced his dismay to The Jason Rantz Show on KTTH: “I was extremely disappointed and yet not surprised,” he said.
The father’s disappointment stems from the longstanding tradition of the Veteran’s Day assembly being a cherished occasion, drawing parents to hear poignant speeches and songs that resonate with American pride and history.
The same father articulated a broader critique, suggesting that the school administration’s decision was symptomatic of a deeper ideological shift: “For years the Veteran’s Assembly has been a highlight at the school and one of the few midday assemblies that gathers a fairly large audience of parents to come hear the speakers.”
His observation implies that the assembly was more than a mere event; it was a reflection of community values and a commitment to honoring national service.
The lieu of the patriotic songs, the school has opted for songs centered around the Peace Assembly’s theme of Tolerance, Acceptance and Kindness including “Live in Peace,” “Peacebuilder Pledge Song,” “Amani Utupe Na Ustawi” and “Namaste.”
“Students will spend most of the assembly singing songs, with each grade level performing two songs that they learned while attending music classes at the school,” a district spokesperson told The Jason Rantz Show on KTTH in a statement.
The father expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision state, “the school administration has moved strongly away from pride in our traditions and American history.”

He also expressed the timing, noting the war in Israel against the terrorist Hamas regime following it’s heinous attack on Israeli civilians on October 7.
The father said, “I know that that there is a lot of tension right now in our communities about the war in Israel,” specifically stating that the school has a “fairly large Israeli population.”
“We should be taking the time to show our children and our community that we have brave men and women who are willing to stand up and fight for our freedom and the peace that other places in the world can only dream of,” the father continued.
Contrasting with this perspective, a spokesperson for the district presented a more benign view of the changes, implying continuity in the school’s commitment to honoring veterans.
“Students will still learn about Veteran’s Day and honor veterans by watching videos about the sacrifices that veterans have made and making cards to thank veterans,” the spokesperson said. The spokesperson also pointed to the “thank you” cards students made which were delivered to the Seattle VA Medical Center.
Despite these reassurances, the father remains skeptical, arguing that assemblies are a more meaningful gesture of appreciation for veterans’ sacrifices.
“I remember three years ago, sitting next to a parent who had recently moved to America from Germany,” the father explained. “She was sitting there with tears in her eyes. Afterward, she explained to me that she was blown away with the patriotism and American pride.”
Losing this tradition is a travesty. If we don’t teach our children the importance of the freedoms we have in America and the immense sacrifice of our service men and women to defend them, how will our military continue? This should be a wakeup call to all of us.
