Amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Grand Canyon, President Joe Biden, in an interview with The Weather Channel this week, affirmed his determination to curb oil and natural gas drilling in significant regions of the United States.
“I wanted to stop all the drilling on the east coast, and the west coast, and in the Gulf, but I lost in court,” Biden said during the interview. “But, we’re still pushing, we’re still pushing really, very hard.”
During his Arizona tour, the President designated a vast area, spanning a million acres, as a new National Monument. This move effectively puts a halt to drilling and mining in this region.
However, this decision hasn’t gone down well with some local stakeholders. Numerous ranchers and western representatives are voicing concerns and discontent.

Arizona Congressman Eli Crane didn’t mince words, commenting, “With today’s announcement, President Biden and Interior Secretary Haaland have made it apparent that national security, economic prosperity, and Tribal sovereignty are disposable to them.”
Crane further elaborated, “Uranium is critical to American energy and security, and this ridiculous political posturing only makes us more reliant on foreign nations such as China and Russia.”
Crane continued by highlighting the broader economic ramifications of this decision, saying, “Northern Arizona’s economy will lose billions because of this stifling land grab by the federal government.”
“In addition to this million-acre land grab, this Administration is also cruelly blocking Navajo Nation citizens from natural gas and oil development in New Mexico,” he continued.
“Tribal sovereignty only matters to them if it suits their radical agenda. This type of woke government overreach that tramples over the American people is the embodiment of the America Last agenda,” Crane added.
In the broader context, it’s noteworthy that gas prices are undergoing another surge. Simultaneously, there are growing concerns about Biden having considerably drawn from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve without articulating a solid strategy for its replenishment.
