President Donald Trump is calling for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the rigged 2020 election, polluted by everything from suspect absentee ballots to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s “Zuckbucks.”
“Biden was grossly incompetent, and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD! The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING,” Trump wrote on Friday on Truth Social.
“A Special Prosecutor must be appointed,” he continued. “This cannot be allowed to happen again in the United States of America! Let the work begin!”
In the same post, Trump blasted his predecessor and his “CORRUPT CRONIES” for leading an invasion that saw millions of illegal immigrants pour into the United States over Joe Biden’s presidential term. The president noted the latest U.S. Border Patrol report, which shows that the agency did not release a single illegal immigrant into the country in May, compared to 62,000 on Biden’s watch in May 2024.
Corporate media immediately sprang to Biden’s defense and turned to the tired line that Trump’s assertions about the rigged election are “baseless.” The Associated Press decried that Trump’s call for a special prosecutor comes as “his Republican White House is consumed by a hugely substantial foreign policy decision on whether to get directly involved in the Israel-Iran war. Audaciously, the AP added that Trump’s call for a real deep dive investigation into an election replete with irregularities and election-law violations “is part of an amped-up effort by him to undermine the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency.”
“Earlier this month, Trump directed his administration to investigate Biden’s actions as president, alleging aides masked his predecessor’s ‘cognitive decline.’” Yes, the AP put cognitive decline in quotes as if the senile Biden hasn’t experienced an erosion of his mental acuity — a fact that the accomplice media are finally acknowledging after covering for Biden for four long years.
But the AP and its ilk just can’t bring themselves to disavow the lie of “the most secure in American history.”
‘The Situation Is So Absurd’
Federalist Editor-In-Chief Mollie Hemingway disabused the corporate media cult of the mantra in her 2021 book, Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections, and in her testimony last year before the House Administration Committee.
Hemingway has detailed the myriad security problems with mail-in ballots, a Pandora’s Box opened under the cover of Covid, and the disturbing and game-changing involvement of leftist private money in U.S. elections.
“We have allowed the private takeover of government election offices by partisan oligarchs and their armies of activists who use those offices and their authorities to tilt the election toward favored candidates,” she said in her opening statement.
Zuckerberg poured hundreds of millions of dollars into a Chicago-based nonprofit group with deep ties to the Obama campaign under the auspices of “safe election” grants. The leftist Center for Tech and Civic Life pumped the lion’s share of that money into election offices in Democrat-led cities in critical battleground states. In swing state Wisconsin, as The Federalist has detailed, the funding in part paid for Democrat operatives to be embedded in election offices. In Green Bay, a New York operative was given the keys to the room where the absentee ballots were stored.
While Wisconsin and other states have now constitutionally banned the practice of private money in their elections, many of the systemic problems from 2020 linger. Chief among them are “lengthy election seasons,” as Hemingway described, negating the constitutional standard of Election Day.
“The situation is so absurd that we have presidential and gubernatorial debates weeks after some people have already voted,” Hemingway said during her congressional testimony. And the ridiculously extended voting periods are marred by a no-questions-asked, universal mail ballot allowance in many blue states.
“Instead of having full security and a verifiable chain of custody for ballots being issued, cast, and counted, we flooded addresses across the country with tens of millions of unsupervised mail-in ballots months ahead of elections frequently to locations from which voters, if they’re even alive, have long since moved, instead of having election administration that is rigorously nonpartisan and impartial under the law,” Hemingway said.
A special prosecutor investigating the 2020 election would not only help shine light on some dark places in the troubled election year, but it could help bring accountability and greater security to an election system that remains anything but “the most secure in American history.”
