NextImg:Leftist L.A.-Area Vice Mayor Allegedly Calls On Gangs To Fight ICE

Boy, it seems you can’t swing a dead cat these days without hitting an idiot in liberal politics. And the biggest idiots often are the most highly educated.

Take Cudahy, Calif. Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez, for example. Excuse me. Dr. Cynthia Gonzalez. It’s clear from her bio that she’s very proud of her Ed.D. — her doctoral degree in education.

Gonzalez is drenched in education. California education, which, as we have learned, can be a special kind of education.

The Cudahy City Council member’s bio boasts a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California Santa Barbara. “She earned two master’s degrees in education from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Educational Leadership Doctorate from UCLA’s ELP program. In addition to her degrees, she has also earned her administrative credentials from UCLA and UC Berkeley.”

So with all that education, why did Gonzalez allegedly do something so incredibly stupid? Perhaps because of that special California education.

‘I Need a Lawyer’

On Wednesday, calls were reportedly growing for Gonzalez to resign her council position in the small southeast Los Angeles County community after she apparently decided it was a good idea to post a now-deleted video calling on street gangs to defend their turf against U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agents.

“I wanna know where all the cholos are at in Los Angeles. 18th Street, Florencia. Where’s the leadership at? … Now that your hood is being invaded by the biggest gang there is, there ain’t a peep out of you,” Gonzalez allegedly says in the TikTok video, which, of course, has been captured for eternity. “Don’t be trying to claim no block, no nothing if you’re not showing up right now trying to help out and organize,” Gonzalez said in the now-deleted TikTok video.

Clearly, the vice mayor’s expensive education didn’t belabor the importance of good grammar.

“If you’re not showing up right now, trying to help out and organize, I don’t want to hear a peep out of you once they’re gone,” Gonzalez, who is running for a seat on the Los Angeles Community College District board, said.

Not surprisingly, Gonzalez finds herself in some hot water, even in Marxist Los Angeles County where the law often seems optional if the cause is right — or, shall we say, left. The FBI frowns on potential threats to law enforcement officials, despite what the professional rioting class may tell you.

“I need a lawyer.  The FBI just came to my house,” the good doctor posted after taking down her problematic video. “It was about a TikTok that I made that went viral. Literally a TikTok.”

Yes, literally.

Gonzalez “believes this is a First Amendment rights issue,” Fox 11 in Los Angeles reported.

‘This Kind of Garbage’

The Department of Homeland Security called Gonzalez’s comments “despicable.”

“She called for criminal gangs — including the vicious 18th Street gang — to commit violence against our brave ICE law enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement to The Federalist. “This kind of garbage has led to a more than 500 percent increase in assaults against our ICE law enforcement officers. Democrats must stop comparing ICE to the Gestapo and calling for violence against our law enforcement.”

McLaughlin is referring to, among others, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The failed former vice-presidential candidate running on the Kamala Harris success express referred to ICE as “Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo.” The Democrat was delivering the commencement speech at the University of Minnesota Law School, another fine leftist institution of higher education.

ICE has had its share of dealings with Gonzalez’s 18th Street Gang pals. In March, federal agents apprehended a fugitive wanted by Salvadoran authorities for aggravated homicide. Jose Miguel Hernandez-Garcia, 35, was removed to his home country via ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations officers, according to the agency. He had been a guest of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, serving a sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The gang, formed in Los Angeles, is active in 50 cities in 28 states, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. It primarily deals in cocaine and marijuana distribution, as well as heroin and methamphetamine. 18th Street also enjoys moonlit walks on the beach, a warm smile, car-jacking, drive-by shootings, extortion, and homicide.

“In California approximately 80 percent of the gang’s members are illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America,” DOJ notes in its gang profiles.

These are the fine folks the vice mayor allegedly urged to show up and “help out and organize.” Violent street gangs, of course, are known for their organizational skills.

‘Her Actions Are Deplorable’

Gonzalez could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Her government voice mailbox was “full and there is not enough space to leave a message.” Her fellow council members did not return The Federalist’s requests for comment, nor did Cudahy Mayor Elizabeth Alcantar Loza. It seems government officials in a city that boasts “Open minds, open doors” weren’t all that interested in answering questions.

The city did release a statement Tuesday, according to the Whittier Daily News. In it city officials acknowledged they were aware of the video.

“The comments made by the Vice Mayor reflect her personal views and do not represent the views or official position of the City of Cudahy. The City will not be providing further comment,” the statement curtly said.

Others had plenty to say, however.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union that represents Los Angeles police officers, demanded Gonzalez resign and face prosecution.

“What Ms. Gonzalez urged and taunted these specific gangs to do in her social media post puts police officers and other law enforcement professionals at greater risk,” the union said in a statement provided to multiple media outlets. “Her actions are deplorable and potentially illegal. She should resign and she should be prosecuted if what she called for broke the law.”

You can understand why the police union would take issue with a call for violent street gangs to defend their “territory” against ICE.  The Police Protective League said both gangs Gonzalez noted “have a known history of murdering police officers.”

“The 18th Street and Florencia street gangs are notoriously dangerous Los Angeles-based criminal enterprises. They rule their `turfs’ through intimidation, violence, and murder, and finance their operations through the sale of narcotics and illegal firearms, prostitution, and protection rackets,” the union said

Gonzalez, doctoral degree and all, should know that, too. In her bio, she claims she is “passionate about creating healthy and safe communities that allow students and families to lead healthy and meaningful lives.” Gonzalez, who has been an educator and administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District for more than 20 years, is well-versed in Social Justice – Anti-Racist Leadership, according to her web page.

But it doesn’t take a “doctor” to know that inviting violent gang members to tangle with ICE agents isn’t a recipe for “healthy and safe communities.”
