The American judiciary has largely been a thorn in our side for the last 70 years, at least. Through legalized abortion, the “high and impenetrable wall” between Church and State, banning public school prayer, and calling flag burning “free speech,” the judiciary bears a large onus of blame for the deterioration of our country. At least, however, these acts of sabotage were varnished with the appearance of legality. But that practice looks to be over.
Indira Talwani, an Obama-appointed judge of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, ushered in the next chapter of judicial supremacy when she blocked the provisions of the “big beautiful bill” which deprived Planned Parenthood and its affiliate organizations of Medicaid funds. If Judge Talwani had “found” those provisions “unconstitutional,” or if she had found the whole reconciliation package “illegal,” it would be another example of judicial usurpation. Business as usual. But she didn’t do either. Talwani’s temporary restraining order commands that the executive ignore the law and keep shoveling the Benjamins to feed abortions. As Dan McLaughlin said on X, “You can’t argue with the judge’s reasoning because there isn’t any.”
The surface irony of this would be comedy gold in a movie. For the last 10 years, the left’s bread and butter has been to paint Trump, his allies, his voters, and the Republican Party as fascists intent on destroying “our democracy.” But, when the sacrament of abortion is in jeopardy, it does a 180 and orders the president to completely ignore a law that was duly passed and signed — textbook fascist behavior.
But, as always, there is a deeper level to all this. This “ruling” does not even try to pretend to be anything other than naked power that commands lawlessness for the sake of killing babies. Separation of powers, the rule of law, the legislative power, and the very ability of the American people to enact change through their duly elected representatives — one of the fundamental markers of self-governance — are all done away with a flick of Talwani’s pen.
It’s a dog whistle to us that no matter how hard we vote, how informed we are, how many letters and prayers we send for our country, at the end of the day, it’s all meaningless because Indira Talwani or one of her clones will just put on their crowns, wave the imperial scepter of leftism, and say, “You can’t do that.”
This has led some people to wonder why Talwani even issued her order. It’s going to be appealed, and there’s a 99 percent chance it will be laughed out of existence. When even Trump-hating, abortion enthusiasts like Damon Linker have to admit that it’s total Loony Tunes, that seems a safe bet. But, there was a very good reason for the decision if the goal was destruction.
The Left’s Shift
Over the last 10 years, the American left has undergone a seismic shift. In the past, disrespect of the country had to be masked as “love of country.” Remember Colin Kaepernick? His whole stunt of kneeling for the National Anthem didn’t make him a know-nothing, talentless crybaby running after media clicks; it made him an uber-patriot, according to The New York Times and The Washington Post. Dissent was the highest form of patriotism — until Jan. 6, 2021, when the Biden administration made it treason.
Now, everything is different. The left in America sees the American flag as a threat, the symbol of “the greatest predator empire that has ever existed.” Independence Day is nothing more than a celebration of white supremacy. The traditional means of celebrating July 4 — fireworks — are, in the paradigm of the left, racist. Even the Father of our Country has a target on his back.
These are not the black sheep’s thought processes of judicious or patriotic opposition. These are the alien beliefs of people who have thrown away their American identity for a 1619 barbarian identity that blames the United States for everything wrong in the world and hates it for existing.
This hatred is only growing. Writing in the Washington Examiner, Byron York reports that there is a growing appetite in the Democrat base for violence. Mainstream, suburban, well-to-do, white Democrat voters are starting to demand that Democrat representatives be willing to get shot outside of ICE detention centers because blood grabs the public’s attention.
More and more, Democrats openly say Trump’s assassination would be a good thing. Even the vice-mayor of Cudahy, California, is urging gangs to wage war on ICE. The results are predictable, as the charge of 11 suspects for the recent attack in Texas against ICE agents makes clear.
Judge Talwani’s decision is the “judicial” equivalent of this wave of destruction. The left operates on a simple binary: Give us the power to destroy your country, and if you oppose us by electing people who actually have the spines to fight us, we will engage in terror tactics.
Make no mistake: Judge Talwani is a legal terrorist. Her TRO is the judicial equivalent of an IED, which was supposed to destroy the administration by either disobeying the law or disobeying the judiciary. It’s not about the country or an alternate vision. Now, it is only about destruction — pure and sweet.
The sooner that we, the people, understand this is how the American left and the Democrat Party think, the sooner we will wage an efficient counterwar against them.
