Singer Cyndi Lauper once encouraged her fans to not “be afraid” to let their “true colors” shine. Since the terrible assassination of conservative thought leader Charlie Kirk, America’s propaganda media have taken that advice to heart.
Case in point: former NFL player and now-CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson, who couldn’t help but gaslight Republicans about the issue of “political violence” during a Thursday interview with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
While discussing Kirk’s assassination, Burleson began by declaring, “not everyone took to [Kirk’s] words or his rhetoric,” which he added, “at times … were offensive to specific communities.”
“With that said, this is not the time to focus on that. We are focused on this tragedy,” Burleson said right after essentially framing Kirk as a villain.
Directing his focus to McCarthy, R-Calif., Burleson had the gall to ask the former Republican speaker if Kirk’s assassination represents “a moment for your party to reflect on political violence.” He also dragged other “political leaders” into the mix, probing McCarthy: “Is it a moment for us to think about the responsibility of our political leaders and their voices and what it does to the masses as they get lost in misinformation or disinformation that turns in and spills into political violence?”
“I’d say both parties, you know?” quipped CBS Mornings co-host and fake astronaut Gayle King.
While McCarthy correctly acknowledged the horrific nature of Kirk’s death, he declined to refute Burleson’s dishonest “question” and highlight how the egregious and persistent wave of leftist political threats and violence directed at conservatives grossly outweigh those aimed at the left from the right.
“We have watched this political attack on both sides. We watched what happened in Minnesota; we watched what happened to President Trump; we’ve watched this on both sides,” McCarthy said. “This is not a question about parties. This is a question about nations. We cannot normalize this.”
McCarthy’s lackluster answer aside, the entire exchange is symbolic of the moral rot that runs deep throughout corporate media. For years, these outlets have assisted their Democrat allies in casting some of the most malicious smears on Trump, Christians, Republicans, and others, with no real circumspection about the consequences of doing so.
And now that one of the most prominent conservative Christian thinkers has been slaughtered in cold blood, they want to have a “conversation” about “political violence” on “both sides.”
Every media hack that attempts to mimic Burleson’s repulsive political performance needs to be met with mockery and scorn. Don’t let them act as the morality police. Not now. Not ever.
