A club flyer reportedly posted at Georgetown University celebrates the assassination of Charlie Kirk and invites individuals to join its threatening efforts to forgo “ceremonial resistance and strongly worded letters.”
On Wednesday, The Charlie Kirk Show executive producer Andrew Kolvet posted a photograph of what appears to be a flyer from the John Brown Club on a bulletin board at the Washington, D.C.-based university. The sign reads, “Hey, Fascist! Catch! The only political group that celebrates when Nazis die.”
The phrase “Hey, Fascist! Catch!” is a reference to an engraving on one of the bullet casings that Kirk’s alleged killer had planned to use in his attack on the conservative thinker during his Sept. 10 speaking event at Utah Valley University. As witnessed throughout the past several years, left-wing propagandists have often used such harmful smears (“Nazis” and “fascists”) against mainstream conservatives for the purpose of incitement to violence.
Also included on the flyer is a QR code, which, when scanned, takes users to a Google Forms page with a note that reads, “We’re building a community that’s done with ceremonial resistance and strongly worded letters. If you want to make a real change in your community, let us now [sic] below.”
According to Not the Bee, the John Brown Club is “a leftwing gun-rights group named after the 19th-century anti-slavery fighter who tried to initiate a slave revolt in the South by capturing the United States weapons arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia.” The organization, the outlet reported, “aims to organize leftist militias to counter what they believe is rightwing extremism, AKA normal American Christian dads like Charlie Kirk.”
As further reported by independent journalist Andy Ngo, the John Brown Club has also been “linked to several domestic terrorist attacks” and is “part of the Antifa network.”
The club does not appear on the list of student clubs recognized by Georgetown.
It remains unclear what Georgetown plans to do in response to the reported flyer, if anything. The university did not respond to The Federalist’s request for comment.
The Federalist specifically requested to know what resources (public events, vigils, and so forth) and messages (emails, newsletters) the school has devoted to help students grapple with Kirk’s horrific assassination on a college campus during a free speech event; what action it’s taken to ensure free speech and debate will be protected at the university; and what action it has taken in response to the posting of flyers celebrating the assassination of Kirk and urging more violence against those who share his mainstream conservative views.
It’s worth mentioning that Georgetown offers a wide range of resources for leftist-favored causes and beliefs. The school’s Office of Student Equity & Inclusion includes many such materials, including a resource document “to foster community & support for Black staff, students and faculty at Georgetown.”
“In addressing the murders of Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd and the racial hatred and oppression in the U.S., OSEI offered recommendations to provide support to Georgetown’s students and employees,” the OSEI resource page reads.
Following the death of Floyd and the other aforementioned black Americans, Georgetown began offering students an “Anti-Racism Toolkit,” which includes “a compilation of books, courses, articles, and other resources that can serve as a launch point for further study and information for discussions about race and inclusion in our society.” This list notably includes literary works advancing critical race theory, such as Ibram X. Kendi‘s How to Be an Antiracist.
Several members of Georgetown’s Campus Ministry also led a demonstration “to protest the murder of George Floyd and systemic racism” following Floyd’s death.
