It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the Democratic Party launched its soft coup against the political liability that was Joe Biden.
Thursday marked the day President(?) Joe Biden delivered a mushed-mouth Oval Office speech to further explain “his decision” to end his run for a second presidential term. He claimed, as he struggled to read the teleprompter, that he was putting the country and democracy above “personal ambition.”
What a guy.
“When you elected me to this office, I promised to always level with you, to tell you the truth,” Biden said. It was a bold statement from a man and an administration that had routinely lied to the American people for four long years.
In fact, some very powerful people in his party were not only telling him to get the hell out of the way, they were forcing the issue. You’ll recall Biden’s meltdown in his disastrous late-June debate against then-presumptive GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. That was the “Oh, (expletive deleted)” moment for a Democrat Party in mid-implosion. George Clooney lamented in a New York Times’ op-ed that Joe Biden was a shell of his old “Big F-ing deal” self, and Nancy Pelosi performed her best Lady Macbeth behind the scenes as dozens of liberal members of Congress did the dirty work on stage.
While there were concerns that Vice President Kamala Harris was an idiot and would be further exposed as such, the party steamroller fired up and made flat Harris’ path to the nomination. Disregarding 87 percent of the nominating votes that the sitting president had collected in the presidential primaries, or about 14.4 million ballots, the big-money interests that actually control the party anointed Harris the replacement candidate. Party bosses in smoke-filled rooms were back in fashion.
The soft coup was complete.
“This unprecedented move raises serious questions about the integrity of our elections, the role of political elites, and the fundamental democratic principle that voters choose their representatives,” the Texas Public Policy Foundation warned in late July 2024, a few weeks before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago opened and made it all a fait accompli.
In many ways, the Democratic National Committee did the same for bitter, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, and for Biden in 2020. Ask oligarch-bashing Bernie Sanders about that.
‘Presidents Are Not Kings’
Addressing the American people a few days after his July 21 announcement that he was leaving the race, Biden — or at least the people who wrote the words he struggled to read on the teleprompter — more than suggested that stepping aside was an act of courage, of patriotism. The people who pushed him overboard said Biden’s face belonged on Mount Rushmore. The Democrat, who should go down as one of the worst commanders-in-chief of all time, likened himself to the pantheon of U.S. presidents.
“I’m surrounded by portraits of extraordinary American presidents. Thomas Jefferson wrote the immortal words that guide this nation,” he said. You know the thing. With the help of a script, he was able to recite what “the thing” is in the preamble of the Declaration of Independence.
He said George Washington “showed us presidents are not kings.”
“This sacred task of perfecting our union is not about me, it’s about you, your families, your futures. It’s about We the People. We can never forget that,” Biden mumbled.
But even as the 46th president was borrowing from some of the most high-minded ideals in the republic’s history, his party was pushing aside the will of millions of voters, just as Democrats did by driving Trump off the primary ballot. They failed in that power trip because the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously agreed that the republic still has a Constitution.
‘A Treasonous Conspiracy’
As we’ve come to find out, Democrats in power have grown quite fond of the soft coup political strategy while warning of “threats to democracy.” Congressional committees are trying to get to the bottom of exactly who was in charge of the Biden White House as the octogenarian’s mental faculties receded like his hairline pre-plugs. Particularly in question, the record 4,245 acts of clemency he ostensibly issued, including a get-of-jail-free card to his morally bankrupt son, other corrupt family members and bad government actors.
And then there are the bombshell Intelligence Community documents showing President Barack Obama’s White House working with Deep Staters in manufacturing the pretext of the Russian collusion hoax despite warnings from career IC agents.
“The information we are releasing today clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government,” said Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in releasing the first tranche of declassified records. “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup with the objective of trying to usurp the President from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people.”
In his late-July address after being thrown from the presidential train, Biden said voters would have to decide.
“Do we still believe in honesty, decency and respect? Freedom, justice and democracy?” he asked.
American voters resoundingly answered, electing Trump. And the 47th president is showing the receipts on the dishonesty, indecency, and disrespect that power-hungry Democrats displayed while they were going about stifling freedom, weaponizing justice, and spitting in the face of democracy.
