Efforts are underway at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to develop a platform dedicated to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs)—a platform to enable transactions between countries. The IMF wants central banks to agree on a common regulatory framework for digital currencies that would allow global interoperability. The Managing Director of the IMF asserted that it is crucial to avoid the fragmentation of digital currencies along national lines. We asked an expert for his opinion on the issue.
