After reading the article “How humankind came to be,” registered dietitian Karen Kramser says it has changed her outlook on how she approaches challenges. She says she now understands she is working through her karma and that the good she can bring during challenging situations is what really matters.
Kramser explained how life has a way of throwing challenges at us and how one minute we think all is perfect and then another challenge appears.
Kramser is a happily married mother and grandmother. She believes that, like most people, she is on a spiritual journey.
“I think we’re all a work in progress. And this article by Mr. Li, who explained why human beings came into existence, it resonated with me so much, because through my life, I’ve noticed instances where when everything seems perfect, that’s when the next challenge comes up. And I’ve talked to some of my friends who have noticed the same exact things in life. And the article gave me a new perspective,” she told NTD Television, The Epoch Times’ sister media outlet.
She added that it has helped her not feel frustrated when challenges arise and even take a step back and reflect on why a difficult situation may have arisen, or why a particular person may be inflicting difficulties on her.
Karen now understands that she needs to come from a place of love, patience, and understanding when dealing with difficult situations or people.
She also explained how she noticed many similarities between her Christian faith and the Eastern teachings of Mr. Li.
“I try to always keep an open mind. And I could see I’m always kind of searching and learning of the way other cultures and other religions think and practice,” she said.
Software engineer Alexander Ryan said he is also inspired after reading the article. He gives a glowing recommendation for others to read it, and feels strongly that Falun Gong could unify humanity.
“I’m hoping that Falun Gong can be the organization that can bring together spiritual traditions of the East and the West to help humanity avoid destroying itself.”
Alexander says in his view, humanity needs to ascend to a higher level of being and stop trying to gain at the expense of each other. He believes our modern technology is growing faster than the moral systems needed to constrain it.
Alexander maintains a view that humanity needs to come together as a whole in order to see the world how it truly is.
“I’m not an expert on the background of Falun Gong, but I detect a lot of influence of Buddhism. And I think that’s in general. The correct direction—the Buddha’s emphasis on putting an end to suffering. By striving to see the world the way it actually is, he told NTD in an interview.
In his view, he continued, the origin of all suffering is an inner conflict within each of us. On the one hand, the desire for a particular sensory experience, and on the other hand, the desire to see the world the way it actually is. Alex says the conflict between those two is the origin of all suffering.
He holds that humanity is looking for answers as to why the world has become the way that it has.
“I think many—most, if not all—mental illness in this world is just good people trying to understand why there’s so much evil in this world. We don’t understand that. And so we’re searching for answers.
Alex says he believes humanity needs to open their hearts and minds to hearing the perspectives of others, which in turn helps us open our hearts and minds to the spirit of others.
“I would say that we need to open our hearts and minds to the perspectives of others so that we can come closer to the truth,” he concluded.
