SANTA ANA, Calif.—Firefighters from multiple departments worked over an hour to put out a three-alarm blaze in a commercial building in Santa Ana and protect other structures in the industrial area, authorities said March 27.

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Sunday at the building in the 2200 block of South Susan Street, Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Capt. Sean Doran told City News Service.

Flames were showing through the roof when firefighters arrived, Doran said. Electric wires were down and firefighters “mitigated” the situation until Edison workers arrived.

OCFA firefighters with help from Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley counterparts put out the flames in one hour and 10 minutes, he said. “We held it to the building of origin.”

Hazardous materials teams were summoned to the scene to check for potential danger as part of a normal response to a fire in an industrial building, Doran said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
