Walk into the 500,000 square-foot tableware emporium near Greensboro, North Carolina, and you will find a display of America’s 500 most popular dinner plates from the past two centuries. Some are decorated with a classic lace trim; others with garish peacocks and florals. This is just a small selection of their stock. Smashed one of the crystal goblets your mum gave you in the 1980s? They can sell you a replacement. Always coveted your great-grandmother’s teacups but a greedy aunt snatched them after she died? They can probably send you an exact set.
