One vicious social media “challenge” on TikTok resulted in an utterly absurd incident. An American wife ended up filming her husband’s own self-inflicted death, reports reveal.
Social media has been having highly adverse effects on people, especially the youth.
A fresh case demonstrating the evil nature and absurdity of social media emerged as a husband perished after seeking to create a viral TikTok video, The Gateway Pundit reports.
The TikTok challenge called for jumping off a speeding motorboat “feet first” and then just “leaning into the water,” reveals Captain Jim Dennis from the Childersburg Rescue Squad in Alabama.
The husband who did the idiotic TikTok-inspired stunt in the Coosa River died before the eyes of his children. They were watching him perform the challenge, while his wife was the one filming him for supposed social media glory.
Dennis says there is a “tragic trend,” which attempts to execute potentially deadly challenges for TikTok. He added his service registered four such drownings in the past six months alone – and those were “easily avoidable.”
The first incident in which the husband died while his wife was filming occurred in February. In another case, the victim was also a middle-aged male.
The report points out data from Exploding Topics, showing Americans are online about 6.5 hours daily, spend 2.5 hours daily on average on social media, and check their mobile devices 159 times a day.
It is noted that the prevalence of online time is practically “bound” to create certain confusion about what is virtual reality and what is real. However, the results could be increasingly dangerous and even lethal, as the case in hand has shown.
These trends, unfortunately, seem to be getting worse by the day. So, there is a big question about if society will manage to counter the evil influence of social media and especially TikTok.
