In the modern world, artificial intelligence (AI) is here to stay. Various algorithms and other programs are being used to fulfill certain purposes, make work easier, and achieve additional outcomes.
Many people have their doubts about AI, wondering about the harm it could do. Then, there are others who believe AI does have the potential to be an asset, yet requires regulation in order to keep it from spiraling out of control.
Now, one mathematician is making headlines for a somewhat strange use of AI, as documented by the Daily Mail.
For reasons that continue to be questioned, one mathematician used various algorithms to put together swear words that are different from the typical ones. The swear words in question were then categorized as being appropriate for a “swear jar” of sorts.
Eventually, the machine learning program was able to construct various words of its own that were deemed to be profane.
Largely driving the machine learning program was a prototype in which different events are predicted based on events that have already transpired.
All things considered, the world should brace itself for mixed uses of AI and machine learning that are somewhat out of the norm. Right now, the scientific community is still working to figure out the extent to which AI can be used.
Likewise, AI itself has the potential to learn and pick up on patterns, frequencies, and other details, all on its own. Across assorted fields and occupations, both AI and machine learning are slowly carving out their mark.
Despite the use of AI to generate and categorize various swear words, some scientists have suggested in the past that swearing is actually an indicator of intelligence.
Time will ultimately determine what comes next as it pertains to the use of AI.
