The US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) commander stated the inventory of US and ally weaponry has become “dangerously low” during an elevated volume of arms deliveries to Ukraine.

Additionally, he said, there are no “short-term” solutions in sight.

At London’s conference for the Chief of the Air Staff’s Global Air & Space, USAFE leader Gen. James Hecker, who likewise oversees US air defenses in Africa, spoke in a discussion group.

This happened alongside the air chiefs of the UK and Sweden. He encouraged other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to carefully examine the state of their arsenals.

He believes it’s essential that all of us periodically take inventory of how far along we are in our arsenals in the 32 nations of NATO.

We’re heading substantially lower in comparison to where we were, said Hecker. He included Sweden’s anticipated membership in the group of allies — a subject of vehement debate at the NATO summit in Lithuania this week — alongside the allied countries.

Following the Russian assault in February 2022, the US has given Ukraine about $41.3 billion in security aid.

Most of it arrived via transference of existing stockpiles as opposed to new manufacturing, in accordance with a fact sheet published on July 7.

One such instance is the greater number of 2,000 RTX-produced Stinger anti-aircraft systems that have been delivered to the nation. This made it difficult for the Pentagon to refill the present stockpile as it looks for a future-oriented version.

A limited ammunition stockpile played a role in the Biden administration’s recent and contentious choice to transfer cluster munitions to Ukraine.

These weapons are prohibited in over 100 nations, due to human rights issues. The war-torn nation has already received almost two million 155 mm rounds of artillery, as well as other armaments.

US officials presented the cluster bomb deliveries as an interim measure to buy more time to ramp up gun manufacturing and support Ukraine’s continuing counteroffensive.
