The leftist legal onslaught against former President Trump is intensifying further, even after his second indictment.
A federal judge has now set January 2024 – months before the next presidential election – as the start date of a second defamation lawsuit against him by feminist author E. Jean Carroll.
The left is apparently so threatened by Trump that its strategists are weaponizing against him anything they could ever think of – from the US Justice Department and Manhattan’s DA to E. Jean Carroll, who lives alone in the woods and called one of her cats “vagina.”
In April, Trump was indicted by Manhattan’s woke prosecutors on 34 financial crime charges over the claims he bribed a “horse face”-looking porn actress to hide some kind of former affair.
Earlier this month, he was indicted on 37 mostly espionage charges by the Biden Justice Department. Yet, that is not enough. Trump is being sued by Carroll, who claims he raped her in a department store fitting room sometime in the 1990s.
According to recent reports, Carroll’s legal expenses are paid indirectly through a nonprofit by Reid Hoffman. He is a billionaire Democrat mega-donor, best known publicly as the founder of social media network LinkedIn.
At the end of last week, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan scheduled January 15, 2024, as the starting trial date for Carroll’s second defamation lawsuit against Trump, Breitbart News reports.
The judge’s brief scheduling order came after he allowed the almost 80-year-old author to change her second defamation suit to demand $10 million in compensation from the former president.
The new development comes after May. Last month, a nine-member jury decided Trump was liable for sexual battery against Carroll and for slandering her. It awarded her $5 million in damages in total.
Her second lawsuit is based on comments by Trump from 2019 about her rape accusations.
Under the judge’s latest motion, Carroll was able to include in her suit the former president’s comments from a recent town hall organized by CNN.
Those include Trump saying her accusations are a “made-up” and “fake” story and he has “no idea” who she happens to be.
For the time being, no trial date has been set for the Biden DOJ’s charges against Trump.
