NextImg:Third Party Presidential Candidate Making Democrats Nervous - The Conservative Brief

In the 2024 presidential election, the Democratic establishment has done all it can to essentially clear the way for Joe Biden to secure the nomination.

Despite the fact that other Democrats are running to challenge Biden, the Democratic National Committee doesn’t plan on hosting any debates. This means the president doesn’t have to defend his past four years in office or be compared to other contenders during the primary race.

It’s not a good look. In fact, it’s a reminder of 2016 when Bernie Sanders competed against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, only for the DNC to later award Clinton with superdelegates.

However, a new candidate could potentially derail what the Democratic establishment is trying to pull off. Right now, left-winger Cornel West is running for president; though rather than running as a Democrat, he’s campaigning as a third-party candidate, according to the Gateway Pundit.

It’s very clear that Democrats want Biden to coast his way through the primary, without having to defend his record to the party’s voters.

However, with West being a left-winger and running as a Green Party candidate, some Democrats believe it could siphon off votes from their party, hence giving the eventual GOP nominee an edge.

West, for his part, made it clear he doesn’t intend to back down or be bullied into clearing the way to victory for Biden.

While Democratic establishment folks aren’t happy with West campaigning under the Green Party, progressives aren’t happy with the lack of debates scheduled in this election.

Some Democrats also don’t believe Biden is the best shot their party has at keeping the White House. If the DNC continues trying to tip the scales in Biden’s favor, they may see more of their voters cast ballots for West or some other third-party candidate.
