The field of 2024 GOP presidential contenders is quickly expanding. Because of this, Republicans will have no shortage of options to consider when it comes to who they believe is best suited to take on Joe Biden and take back the White House.

However, as the field of candidates expands, there’s been much speculation about the upcoming primary debates. These debates are critical in the election process, as they let voters compare and contrast contenders, along with their various policies.

News about the first Republican primary debate for 2024 is now here. As Hot Air reports, this debate is happening sooner than some folks might have imagined.

On Wednesday, August 23, the first GOP primary debate will take place in Milwaukee. Hosting this debate will be none other than Fox News. Furthermore, any GOP candidate who wants to partake in this debate will have to meet very specific criteria.

This criteria includes polling at no lower than 1% in three different national polls, along with having at least 40,000 donors who are officially registered. Republican presidential candidates who fall short of this bar won’t be able to engage in the debates.

On top of this, the Republican National Committee has made it clear that anyone who partakes in the primary debates has to sign the pledge to support the eventual nominee, no matter who that is.

Once the GOP primary debates begin, Americans can count on more polls to show which candidates are gaining or losing momentum. It’s very likely that the first contenders to drop out will be those who fail to meet the criteria set by the RNC.

Between now and mid-August, contenders have time to ensure they meet the all necessary standards for a place on the debate stage to make their case.
