In real time, there are countless Americans who’ve been punished by the legal system for protesting on January 6, 2021. This comes despite clear evidence that all isn’t as it seems about this day.
Right now, some of these folks have been sentenced to years behind bars. Meanwhile, others remain in lock-up as they’re waiting to have their day in court.
Some of the January 6 protesters who are in the position to challenge things in a court of law are doing so. That’s why one man known as Jake Lang is preparing to take his case of innocence all the way to the United States Supreme Court, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
Currently, Lang is facing a decent amount of felony charges, with one of them being obstruction, due to a 1512 law. However, the January 6 defendant asserts that this law was intentionally restructured by the prosecution, purely for the sake of sticking him with more charges.
It’s for this reason that Lang intends to take this fight to the Supreme Court if the lower courts decline to drop this charge against him.
Should the Supreme Court end up taking Lang’s case, it could have significant impacts on not just him, but other January 6 protesters who are facing similar charges.
Right now, the January 6 protester has set up a legal fund where people can donate to help him meet expenses associated with litigation. Furthermore, on social media, it’s been noted that over 900 days passed with Lang still not being given a trial.
Currently, even if he does end up being charged and convicted, his current time likely won’t count towards whatever sentence a judge ends up giving him.
The coming weeks will provide more information about what ultimately happens with the case Lang intends to take before the Supreme Court.
