Remote work has been a growing trend for years now, with the emergence of COVID further increasing it. However, as more people are able to do their jobs from home, on a plane, or at a coffeehouse, debates are rising.
Some people are very in favor of remote work, noting the ways in which it fosters efficiency, growth, and productivity. However, others feel that remote work hurts the aforementioned states and isn’t sustainable.
Amid growing debates about remote work and more people seeing jobs that allow them to work from anywhere, Shark Tank businessman Kevin O’Leary is weighing in, per Fox News.
While appearing on Fox News, O’Leary shut down anti-remote work talking points. The Shark Tank star stated not only is the demand for remote work on the rise, but he also warned that companies which oppose remote work will struggle with finding good talent.
Later, O’Leary noted the rising crime rate is a factor in why remote work is the way of the future. The businessman explained that growing amounts of individuals don’t want to go to and from an office each day, especially as growing crime becomes a concern in various communities.
Finally, O’Leary wrapped up by pointing out the economy has changed and businesses have to change along with it. According to the Shark Tank star, he’s personally heard from certain talent that they won’t take jobs requiring them to go back and forth every day.
Growing numbers of people have found that working remotely allows them to be more productive in their careers and in their personal lives. It’s especially been an asset for parents who have to juggle their work responsibilities with childcare.
All things considered, it appears as though remote work is here to stay, despite its detractors.
