The Republican challenger to Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff’s quest for the California Senate attacked the congressman’s assertion that receiving a congressional reprimand is a “badge of honor.”

Republican Senate candidate and attorney Eric Early said on Thursday via Fox News Digital that whenever Schiff opens his mouth, lies come out.

Early added that Schiff is currently acting like an animal trapped. He’s basically thrashing around, shouting one absurd thing after another.

Schiff said to Fox News that he views his censure, which makes him the 25th member of Congress in history to get one, as a badge of honor since it shows he is successful in his mission.

“They target those they believe to be effective,” Schiff added. “I revealed the corrupt practices of a previous president.”

Schiff continued to say he presided over the initial trial for the previous president’s impeachment. This resulted in the first bipartisan decision for removing a president in American history.

Only banishment is more serious than censure as a form of punishment for an elected official in Congress.

“When it is all said and done and when Schiff is eventually removed from governance, he’s likely to be eternally regarded as one of the most despicable individuals ever to walk the halls of Congress,” Early advised Fox News Digital.

Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna initiated the motion to censure Schiff, which finally carried on a party-line vote of 213-209, with six Republicans casting votes as present.

Prior to the voting, Luna alleged that Schiff, as chair of the House Intelligence Committee, began an all-out political offensive, based on unfounded falsehoods towards a sitting U.S. president.

Luna said Schiff did this at the cost of each and every person in the United States and the dignity of the House of Representatives.
