There are a few things as nauseating as hearing the words “youth” and “Pride” glued together. A drag show aimed at school children is definitely one of them, if not the worst one of the bunch.
As it turns out, the Manchester School District in New Hampshire decided the best way to use their COVID-19 relief funds would be to transform them into funding a youth Pride event on June 2nd.
This will include a drag show for kids.
The spending outlines $500 as being allocated to “Pride decorations and swag,” whereas another $500 is set to be used for paying the drag “performers” as one would call them.
A flier advertising the unfortunate event that is going to unfold on school grounds explained what the students should expect to see at the booths, while also showcasing a photo booth that will be set up.
The superintendent for the district, Jennifer Gillis, tried to sugarcoat the whole thing by stating it’s much as it was in previous years, an after-school opt-in activity, and not something all students are required to attend.
While the event itself may be in line with the district policies, this only goes to show how far gone the public morale really is. We’re now okay with men dressed in women’s clothing spending time with our children.
Thankfully, at least someone recognized just how absurd this is. The state’s Department of Education commissioner, Frank Edelbut, showed concern about spending $4,000 from the American Rescue Plan on a Youth Pride event.
In fact, the total funding for the show comes out to around $6,000, meaning the rest of the sum is likely going to be covered with donations from parents, allowing the “performers” to line their pockets with ease.
This is only one of many events that we’re going to see in the month of June; things will only get worse from here on out.
One school board member even spoke out in support of the event, claiming they don’t see an issue with a drag show being held for LGBTQ students and others who support the community.
