When Americans warned that COVID-19 probably leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China, they were instantly written off as conspiracy theorists. Some people even had their social media accounts penalized for openly posting about this.
However, with the passing of time, certain officials in the medical community have conceded that the lab leak theory has merit.
Now, fresh updates from Fox News further support the view that claims of COVID coming from a Wuhan lab weren’t just a baseless conspiracy theory.
American officials at the highest levels of the federal government just revealed that three scientists working out of the Wuhan lab in China were some of the first people to come down with COVID.
US officials arrived at this conclusion after coming across even more evidence that COVID accidentally got out of the Wuhan lab, hence confirming suspicions that many Americans had all along.
In further developments, the gain-of-function research done by at least one of the aforementioned scientists directly led to COVID being more contagious and infectious.
Of course, adding these traits to the virus enabled it to infect more people and claim more lives.
Gain-of-function research is innately designed to increase the danger and infectious rates of a virus. In spite of this, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) doesn’t seem to have a problem with the role it played in funding this work.
As a matter of fact, the NIH has gone so far as to defend its role in gain-of-function research. According to the organization, not partaking in this research would lead to a lack of preparation for any pandemics that may emerge in the future.
Needless to say, many Americans aren’t buying this. In fact, some believe the NIH knew exactly what it was doing and wanted COVID to get as out of control as it did.
