As Pride Month draws to a close, there have been numerous controversies and discussions surrounding the event. One such issue raised involves the perception of the activist push and its potential impact on children.

Recently, a video from the New York City Pride March stirred controversy, as it features participants chanting “We’re coming for your children.” This prompted criticism from those who see it as evidence of an attempt to inappropriately target or influence children.

In response to this criticism, NBC News’s Out & Proud portal, which focuses on LGBTQ+ issues, sought to provide context for these chants. This portion of NBC News is recognized for its pro-LGBTQ+ stance.

The ongoing controversies and ensuing dialogue highlight the challenges and tensions inherent in these debates.

The rights and representations of the LGBTQ+ community are continually a topic of discussion and contention, particularly in relation to how these issues intersect with the rights and protections of children.

In an attempt to respond to criticisms surrounding the video from the New York City Pride March, Out & Proud correspondent Tyler Kingkaid interviewed Brian Griffin, the original organizer of the NYC Drag March.

Griffin’s explanations, however, may not have alleviated the concerns raised by some viewers of the video.

In response to criticisms and accusations of “grooming” children, Griffin, acknowledged the controversial nature of some of the actions and rhetoric used in past marches.

Griffin suggested if people found the chants from this year’s event concerning, they might be even more shocked by some of his past actions.

He candidly revealed some of the controversial actions that have taken place in past marches. Griffin stated he previously chanted provocative phrases, such as they’re coming to “kill the mayor,” and made jokes about explicit topics, saying God is a lesbian.
