NextImg:Mitt Romney Now Under Fire From Social Media Users - The Conservative Brief

GOP Sen. Mitt Romney is somewhat of a polarizing figure. Despite having a fairly conservative voting record, there are still some Americans who don’t trust Romney.

Much of this has to do with how the Utah congressman has spoken about former President Trump in the past. During the 2016 presidential election, Romney came out hard against Trump, slamming him as phony and dangerous.

Though after Trump’s election, the Utah senator was photographed shaking Trump’s hand and having dinner with him. Fast forward to present day and Romney has since resumed attacking Trump.

However, what’s attracted criticism Romney’s way, as of late, deals with a message he put out to celebrate National Hot Dog Day, per the Gateway Pundit.

Romney put out a message celebrating the day of hot dogs. However, many viewers felt that the video didn’t seem genuine and lacked any legitimate enthusiasm.

This led to critics claiming that the congressman’s message was forced and he would have done well to not acknowledge National Hot Dog Day at all.

Some Twitter users even argued Romney appeared as though he was being held hostage. So far, despite the massive backlash, Romney has not yet pulled this video from his social media.

Right now, the Utah congressman is facing a 2024 challenge from Republican Trent Staggs and other candidates may jump into the race as well.

2024 will be a big year, as it’s not only going to include the presidential race, but also the House and Senate elections.

Republicans are hopeful that the party can expand its majority in the House, while picking up a few more Senate seats. Every single election will matter, both at the primary and the general stages.

Finally, critics on social media have noted that content like Romney’s National Hot Dog Day video will only serve as ammunition for his political rivals to use against him.
