This past weekend, two New York City Pride events sparked uproar. Drag demonstrators shouted statements about targeting children and hundreds of attendees purportedly performed nude in front of minors.

Last Friday, an ensemble of trans activists and drag queens donned extravagant attire for the “NYC Drag March” around Tompkins Square Park. They advanced through the East Village and the Stonewall Inn to begin the weekend activities.

Timcast News recorded footage of demonstrators, including a woman without a top, chanting, “We’re here!” We’re gay! We will take your children!”

Even though some claim the refrain was a sarcastic reply to accusations that members of the LGBTQ community planned to “groom” children, the message outraged Americans fighting to protect children.

The first drag march was held in 1994 as a protest against the exclusion of drag performers from the Pride March for fear of losing corporate sponsorship. The drag march is notorious for its problematic politics and extravagant costumes.

Less than a day later, during the “New York City Dyke March,” men and women in their underwear reportedly performed in front of children, while dancing and playing in a fountain in Washington Square Park.

Savanah Hernandez, a Frontlines correspondent for Turning Point USA, took a video of the display. It depicted children toying with inflatable objects that looked like “clitorises” provided by women partaking in the event.

Saturday’s independent march was the group’s 31st annual gathering. The theme for this year:  “Not Your Fing Body, Not Your Fing Business.”

The parade will commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a series of spontaneous protests by the LGBTQ community in response to police incursions.

This year, numerous New York City events urged the LGBTQ community to unite in opposition to legislation that would set age limits on drag shows and prohibit sex-change medical procedures on children.

In major U.S. cities, approximately 400 LGBTQ groups are involved in organizing Pride events.
