Hillary Clinton's Endorsement of Controversial Book Sparks Online Firestorm - The Conservative Brief

In a recent social media storm, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton found herself at the center of controversy.
On Saturday, Clinton endorsed a book that paints her as a victim of decades-long right-wing attacks. However, her endorsement was met with a wave of criticism and trolling.
Clinton’s endorsement was for Michael D’Antonio’s book, “The Hunting of Hillary: The Forty-Year Campaign to Destroy Hillary Clinton.”
In her post, she praised the book as a stunning catalog of right-wing misogyny and mythmaking. However, Clinton restricted comments on her post to only those she follows or mentions, effectively silencing any differing opinions.
Despite this attempt to control the narrative, critics were not deterred.
They took to their own platforms to voice their thoughts, resulting in an uninhibited trolling reminiscent of a 2022 incident when Clinton asked for movie suggestions while in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.
The book in question, published in 2020, has been described by reviewer Joe Klein as saintly in its assessment of Clinton.
While it lists every attack against her over the years, D’Antonio suggests that Clinton has achieved a mythic status, comparing her to ancient ghosts and goblins who are unconscious projections of the insecurities of their creators.
However, not everyone agrees with this portrayal. A review noted that the Clintons were guilty of the more subtle failings of their generation, including solipsistic idealism and a sense of entitlement.
It cited a quote from former Democratic Arkansas governor and Sen. Dale Bumpers, used in the book, which criticized the Clintons for their self-centeredness and insensitivity to others’ feelings.
Bumpers was quoted as saying, “Clinton ought to be most grateful … but he never is. You can never do quite enough for him and Hillary.”
“They are the most manic-obsessed people I have ever known in my life and perhaps even the most insensitive to everybody else’s feelings. Everything centers around them and their ambitions.”
Critics echoed these sentiments online.
Clinton’s endorsement of D’Antonio’s book ultimately stirred up a hornet’s nest of controversy.
Despite her attempts to control the narrative, the online community has made their voices heard, offering a stark contrast to the victim portrayal in the book. This incident serves as a reminder of the power of social media and the importance of open dialogue in our society.
