President Biden faced criticism online after responding to a serious allegation with a joke. The controversy arises from an alleged bribery scandal during Biden’s tenure as vice president under President Obama.

A whistleblower reportedly approached members of the House Oversight Committee, claiming the FBI had documentation in 2020. This documentation is allegedly implicating Biden in a $5 million bribery scheme with a foreign national in exchange for influence over policy decisions.

Biden didn’t stay quiet. He made a quick comment asking where the money is. However, he quickly retracted, saying he was just joking and all of these allegations are a “bunch of malarkey”.

This response triggered negative responses across Twitter, with many commentators criticizing his apparent dismissal of the serious allegations.

Critics on Twitter, including Sen. Ted Cruz, journalist Kyle Becker, and the official GOP Twitter account, expressed frustration at what they perceive as a dismissive response from Biden, whom they believe is shielded by partisan allies and the media.

Journalist Kyle Becker wasn’t happy about what’s going on. He tweeted, “Joe Biden thinks evidence of treason is funny. He knows the big media won’t look into any scandals if a Democrat is involved.”

Margot Cleveland, who works for The Federalist, had an interesting take. She said, “When Biden says ‘I’m not joking,’ he’s not telling the truth, but when he says, ‘I’m joking,’ he’s being honest.”

House Republicans Vow to Hold Biden Accountable for Financial Actions

The GOP’s official Twitter account shared some heavy information. They said, “Bank records show the Biden family and their companies got over $10 million from foreign people and companies.”

GOP Rep. Tim Burchett had a colorful way of describing things. He wrote, “The Biden family didn’t learn about money laundering. They put money in about 20 different bank accounts and companies they made.”

Some people, though, were more hopeful. They believed things would turn out right in the end.
