Multiple people lost their lives after joining a trip on the OceanGate submarine.

This journey was supposed to take everyone on board to see the remains of the original Titanic. However, it turned deadly when the submarine ran into serious problems, got stranded underwater, and oxygen ran out for those on board.

For days, there was a will-they-won’t-they debate concerning the possibility of passengers being found before it was too late. However, news quickly broke that oxygen on OceanGate was running out.

At that point, survival became an impossibility.

In the aftermath of this, the relatives of folks who died on OceanGate are looking into legal action. Though, according to Fox News, this may be easier said than done.

The main issue for families of the deceased isn’t whether or not they have cases against OceanGate that will stand up in a court of law. Instead, the biggest problem deals with finding attorneys who are willing to represent them.

Right now, specialists with knowledge of the law assert that OceanGate was very upfront about the risks of going on its submarine for a tour. Because the trip can be deemed as “experimental” in nature, many lawyers don’t want to go anywhere near this.

The biggest issue raising red flags for attorneys is the possibility that they could lose this case if they did bring it to trial, hence preventing them from securing damages fees.

Folks with knowledge of the law moreover believe that due to lives lost, if OceanGate offers another similar tour, virtually no one is going to sign up for it.

It remains to be seen whether or not families keep looking for legal representation to assist them in a lawsuit. In the meantime, OceanGate already put out a statement, mourning the lives of those lost.
