California Gov. Gavin Newsom has made a point of constantly attacking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. These attacks don’t land how Newsom intends them to; however, they certainly show the California governor is fixated on both Florida and DeSantis.
In recent years, California’s lost a considerable amount of its population to states such as Florida and Texas. California is likewise struggling with problems like mass homelessness, a drug crisis, an unaffordable cost of living, and much more.
Meanwhile, instead of focusing on these problems, Newsom is more interested in taking shots at DeSantis and demanding the Florida governor agree to debate him. Now, DeSantis is punching back, according to the New York Post.
In an ad, the DeSantis camp calls out the extent to which Newsom’s leadership has failed and disgraced California.
This failed leadership is contrasted with DeSantis’ successful governance, which led to more people moving to Florida and the state boasting better numbers across the board.
Americans who view this ad can also see that DeSantis calls out his counterpart in California for failing to do anything about excrement and needles that are lining the streets of the state.
During a recent campaign event, DeSantis also called out Newsom’s fixation on Florida. Finally, the Republican governor made it clear that if Newsom is serious, he should throw his hat in the ring to challenge Biden for the Democratic nomination, rather than just talking from the cheap seats.
So far, the California governor has gone on record alleging that he has zero intentions of running for the White House. That remains to be seen.
From the looks of things, especially Newsom’s continuous obsession with DeSantis and Florida, Americans shouldn’t be too surprised if Newsom has a change of heart and enters the race, solely for the possibility of going up against DeSantis.
