New York City is home to serious crime and there’s no sign of this stopping anytime soon. Democratic NYC Mayor Eric Adams has all but abandoned his campaign promise to get ahold of local crime that’s terrorizing the community.

Crime-infested cities across the nation have seen more people moving out for the safety of themselves and their families. Tourism also declined as many folks feel that it’s just not worth the risk anymore.

Despite being a major area in America, New York City is on its way to being viewed in the same poor manner as places like Chicago. According to the Daily Mail, NYC’s crime problem is so bad that it almost cost a group of innocent tourists their lives.

A group of Romanian tourists from Times Square were unknowingly being stalked by Dequon Messiah, as he held a knife in his right hand. A photographer caught the whole thing on camera, including Messiah getting close enough to one of the tourists to place his left hand on the man’s shoulder.

Thankfully, the tourists weren’t stabbed or hurt. Messiah, after making contact with the tourist’s shoulder, then walked away and returned to a bench where he was previously seated.

In the aftermath, law enforcement was notified of the incident. Messiah would later be taken into custody. He now faces serious charges of criminal weapon possession, harassment, and menacing.

New York City has got to get ahold of its crime problem. If the community’s leaders continue doing nothing, then they’re signing the death warrants of countless innocent people.

The case with Messiah is far from an outlier. There are many other criminals who have done much worse, including pushing people into the pathways of moving vehicles.

At this rate, New York City might as well be known as Gotham City.
