In America today, higher education certainly isn’t what it used to be. There was a time when people went to colleges and universities to learn, get an edge in the job market, and otherwise set themselves up for success.
However, this has long changed. Many colleges and universities today have become indoctrination camps where only left-wing ideology is peddled and tolerated.
Oftentimes, students who object to this in any way find themselves being penalized, ostracized, and otherwise treated as if they’ve done something wrong.
A new case out of Wisconsin is an example of just how far colleges and universities have fallen. As Fox News reports, one professor is under fire, due to unsavory comments he made about the American flag.
Marquette University’s Grant Silva is making headlines, due to his open statements about the US flag. It is the view of the associate philosophy professor that this flag induces “anxiety.”
He would later go on to say that Americans who are not white also share this view of the flag. According to Silva, “excessive” displays of the US flag also have a tendency to turn Americans from patriots into nationalists.
It wouldn’t be the first time college or university professors made anti-American rhetoric. Though this doesn’t make the situation any less disturbing.
Young Americans shouldn’t have political ideologies crammed down their throats when they go to college. They certainly shouldn’t be taught that the American flag is something worth hating or being ashamed of.
Incidents like this are why college enrollment rates continue to face declines. More people are waking up to the fact that going thousands of dollars into debt isn’t worth attending a university where they’ll be inundated with leftism.
It remains to be seen if anti-American flag talking points find their way into other colleges and universities.
