Not too long ago, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared his candidacy in the 2024 presidential race. This is Christie’s second time seeking the GOP nomination for president, seeing as he also ran in the 2016 White House race.
Right now, it appears as though Christie is largely running as a form of opposition against former President Trump. Of all the candidates campaigning for the Republican nomination right now, Christie’s made Trump the target of his criticism.
Nevertheless, amid Christie’s entry into the race, CNN has planned to host him at a town hall event, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
Christie’s town hall event with CNN is scheduled for the evening of June 12. During this time, the former governor of New Jersey is going to be taking questions from host Anderson Cooper, along with individuals in the audience at the town hall.
Due to Christie doing much more poorly than others competing for the GOP nomination, some Americans have questioned why CNN is doing a town hall with him.
Certain people even posited that it’s a waste of time, since they don’t believe Christie’s second presidential campaign is likely to fare better than the last.
Given Christie’s track record of going after the former president, Americans can expect this to continue during his town hall event on Monday.
In the wake of Trump’s indictment last week, Christie said the former president’s problems are “self-inflicted,” rather than a calculated witch hunt as Trump has asserted. Christie also recently claimed at a political event that corruption is a wider problem existing in Trump’s family.
So far, the former governor has a long way to go before catching up with other GOP 2024 contenders. Time will tell if this changes after his town hall event.
