The Biden administration seems to be playing dirty in the case of alleged classified papers mishandling by former President Trump.
A lawyer for an ex-Trump valet claims the US Justice Department offered to help him secure a judge position in exchange for a cooperative testimony by his client.
The revelation by Stanley Woodward, an attorney for a former Trump valet, comes after a Florida grand jury indicted Trump on 37 counts of document crimes.
Yet, Woodward revealed, in court documents, that a top US prosecutor trying to get the former Mar-a-Lago valet to cooperate brought up the lawyer’s own application to become a judge, Newsmax reports.
Woodward was identified in a report by The Guardian. He is the attorney for Walt Nauta, the valet making controversial claims about whether he moved document boxes at Trump’s mansion in Florida.
According to The Guardian’s report, Woodward revealed the dirty DOJ trick in a letter to the chief federal judge in Washington filed under seal.
It is revealed further that Woodward’s judgeship application was brought up by Jay Bratt, the DOJ’s chief of counterintelligence, during a meeting in November.
The attorney claims at that moment, the Justice Department wanted Nauto to collaborate with them against Trump.
The federal prosecutors told Woodward that Nauta had to cooperate since he was risking a false statement charge, due to his conflicting testimony.
According to the attorney, Bratt said he knew he applied for a judgeship at the Washington, DC superior court, with the application still pending. He also said he didn’t think Woodward could be a “Trump guy” and he was expected to “do the right thing.”
Woodward practically claimed Bratt suggested his judgeship application would be seen favorably if his client cooperated with the prosecution against Trump.
The revelation was emphasized by former President Trump on his Truth Social account while the Justice Department refused to comment on Woodward’s allegations.
