Coming just shortly after the discovery of a baggie of cocaine near the entrance of the West Wing, the Biden regime is doing something truly bizarre.

They recently announced a pause on using satellites to monitor the growth of cocaine in Colombia.

The Secret Service claimed they couldn’t find out who left the cocaine in the White House. Now, Biden is turning off a key tool in the war against drugs. What’s going on?

Colombia is one of the world’s largest producers of coca leaves, a key ingredient in various forms of cocaine. This has led to enormous problems with crime in Colombia, including the rebel FARC military uprising and government corruption.

That’s not even to mention the large-scale exportation of cocaine through Mexico and Central America into the United States.

Though now, a key way that the US stays updated and aware of the drug threat by monitoring Colombian coca fields via satellite is being suspended by the Biden regime.

Satellite monitoring has been used for decades to keep track of Colombia’s drug output and plan for how to fight it. Why is Biden ditching it at this point?

According to the US State Department, this is just a “temporary” pause on the monitoring program. However, the State Department also gave no date of when the program will be switched back on.

This system has been used for decades to monitor Colombian coca production. Colombia’s recent election of communist President Gustavo Petro is also something to consider.

Petro is going after dealers and distributors in big cities, but mainly leaving peasants growing coca in the countryside alone, making production surge even more.

It’s a very strange time to be switching off monitoring when coca levels are at their highest in years. In fact, only 10% of coca crops have been destroyed, as compared to last year.

There are over 500,000 acres of coca growing in Colombia, according to the latest figures. As Senator Marco Rubio notes, Biden is giving a “gift” to Petro and his regime by turning a blind eye to this.
