The Biden administration recently awarded two grants to a UK-based think tank that regularly works to limit online conservative content it deems as misinformation and disinformation.
US Allocates $250,000 to Institute for Strategic Dialogue in Effort to Counter Hate, Disinformation
The State Department is allocating nearly $250,000 to the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), a British non-governmental organization. The funds are for a program to combat “hatred and division” in Eastern Europe.
This program began in April and is set to end in March 2024. The ISD is financed by left-leaning billionaires and European government bodies; it collaborates with online platforms like YouTube and Spotify to tackle supposed misinformation.

In addition, the Department of Defense (DOD) granted the ISD $80,000 in May as part of a grant for Air Force research intended to “stop our nation from being caught off guard by new technology, and instead surprise our rivals.”
The State Department granted funds to the ISD in 2021.
Their aim is to “push the development of new and promising tech to fight against false info and propaganda” in Europe and the UK, as reported first by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
House Committee Examines ISD’s Stance on Censoring Conservative Speech
The House Foreign Affairs Committee is now looking into the ISD’s advocacy for censoring speech, particularly from established conservative media and individuals.
In a 2021 report, the ISD identified misgendering as an instance of “anti-trans hatred,” while discussing social media discourse on men participating in women’s sports.
The report also urged platforms to monitor accounts that repeatedly offend on this matter, including notable conservative figures.
Furthermore, the ISD accused a popular conservative Twitter account, Libs of Tik Tok, of spreading hate in January. This account exposes instances of left-wing pedagogy, such as critical race theory and gender ideology.
YouTube counts the ISD as part of its “Trusted Flagger program.” This program gets help from many non-government groups and government agencies to make sure YouTube’s rules are followed.
